Landlord acknowledged that there was no heating component in the unit upon move in and that it would be repaired before the winter. It never was. We reported the needed repair and instead were given industrial space heaters not to be used indoors and told to not report any more repairs and to tell only them directly. The neighbors that lived in the other side of the duplex were habitual drug users who regularly made us feel unsafe. Multiple times we reported them to the landlord and even called the police on 2 occasions. At one point the landlord called us to tell us to stay away since they became aggressive/violent with him. We paid rent late on a couple occasions due to Medical Issues but we always told the landlord and kept him in the loop at all times and paid in full. We ended our contract with a zero balance according to their payment website. The cooling unit was a \\\"swamp cooler\\\" that did not work half the time, which we reported often with no resolution. We were told not water the lawn. That any lawn care needed to come out of our own pockets despite the fact that then we could not water the lawn. We are now being told that due to the state of the lawn they are going to have to take care of it and take it out of our deposit. When moving in I was allowed to clean the unit to the level I felt comfortable with since they had evicted the previous tenant. The bathroom and kitchen floors were practically brown even though it was an off white tile and the fridge was disgusting. Landlord had the carpet cleaned but a black spot still persisted next to the door. We are being told that they are cleaning the carpet and taking it out of the deposit as well, which I feel is unnecessary. Our lease was up on 6/30/18 and we never signed a new one making it a month to month. The tenants on the other side of the duplex were evicted in the last month. After the unit was being cleaned by a new family moving in they returned to threaten the new tenants and us about reporting them. We were very fearful the last year we were there due to the excessive drug activity. At one point our screen was broken because of a break in attempt. We gave notice on 10/25/18 that we would be out of the unit by the end of November and that since our last month\\\'s rent was paid upon move in we would not be paying any more rent. The new tenant is moving in this week, meaning that our last month\\\'s rent should be prorated and returned to us, the landlord is refusing.
