COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
After receiving a new refrigerator for reasons only slightly affiliated to this complaint, I had submitted a maintenance request stating that the refrigerator door gasket was not sealing properly and causing the temperature to rise in my refrigerator. These temperatures were to the point of being at unsafe levels for food storage/consumption. I was told that everything was working properly the first time, then I submitted multiple pictures of the issue, clearly outlining the problem to the landlord/maintenance team to have them come out again. The issue was not fixed and I submitted one more request, asking to set up a brief meeting so I could show the maintenance team or leasing office personnel my issue. The request which was filed online on August 26, 2018 was ignored until I stepped into the office on September 5, 2018 to see if someone could come with me to look at my refrigerator door. I was met with refusal and told that my issue was not legitimate. I received an email stating that if I wanted to call an appliance repair company to take a look at it, it would be on my own time and I would be the one to pay for it. I was also told a contradicting statement after the maintenance crew had said my door was working properly that there was too much weight on the door and that was causing it to sag. I contacted GE (the manufacturer of the refrigerator door) and they sent out a subcontractor to look at the issue I was having with my refrigerator door. He was in my apartment for about 15 minutes and was able to adjust the door on the bottom so it lined up properly. GE will be getting the bill as it is a manufacturers issue that was easily fixed (so there is no trip charge outlined on the work order as it was a legitimate issue). I was told that I did not have too much weight on the door as well. A full recording of the interaction between the GE subcontracted technician and myself will be available if requested. I also have a work order from the GE subcontracted technician as well stating that he adjusted the door and everything is working properly again.
