COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

On April 29th we signed our lease. Prior to signing we did a walkthrough of our apartment. We noticed bugs crawling on the wall in the loft. We thought they were cockroaches and went to buy a can of Raid to spray with. The following day we moved in. That night my wife fell asleep upstairs with our daughters. On May 1st my wife found bugs under our daughters covers. We still thought they were cockroaches. On May 2nd we went to buy bait traps and set them up. My wife developed a welt on her neck that day. She started to think that there was a more serious problem and brought down everything except the bed from the loft. She searched through the boxes and found bugs only in the ones that were upstairs. On May 3rd my wife started to do research. Using the bugs she had collected she realized they were bedbugs. She developed two more welts on her arm. She took the bed bugs to the front office. Pest control was contacted. However to our surprise, they would not be able to come until the 9th of May. We were also told that if we paid to get it treated it would be at our expense Frustrated, we ordered a gallon of a pesticide called EcoRaider and had it sent next day. On May 4th I started to develop welts on my head. My wife called the front office crying and spoke with the agent who leased the apartment to us. He said there was nothing he could do. We searched both beds and found 5 bed bugs on our daughters bed and 3 on ours. That night we threw away our daughter\\\'s bed because we did not have enough pesticide and placed mattress protectors on ours. We sprayed the apartment and saw bed bugs crawling out of the carpet to the tile. On May 5th I went to the front office to speak with the manager but was told that she was not there. I was given a phone number to corporate. I left a message. That night we threw away our futon. Today on May 6th our daughters have begun to develop welts. We have pictures, receipts, and paperwork to provide as evidence. As of now the 4 of us are sleeping on one bed and it is not an urgent matter to our landlord.
