I became a resident of RichSmith Management, LLC properties, Valley Estates of Mabelvale, July 29, 2015. Coming into my new lease and the loss of my job while on doctors leave, my rent portion through Metropolitan Housing Alliance was $0. The total rent amount was $750.00 for a three bedroom unit. I also started receiving a utility allowance check in the amount of $67.00. Through the apartment complex a tenant has the option to get cable/ internet. October 5, 2015 I made a decision to cancel the cable/ internet package to save money. I wrote Mrs. Hale a letter with the money order to cancel any/ all services. I no longer had cable/ internet and I didn’t hear anything else in reference to it. In March 2016, I did my annual recertification with Metropolitan Housing Alliance. April 20, 2016 I received a rent change notice from my MHA worker Ms. Emma Scott. On this letter it states the total contract rent is $750.00, the housing assistance payments are $750.00 and the utility reimbursement is $67.00 effective 04/01/2016. On August 10, 2016, I received a Notice to Quit that was dated August 8, 2016 a balance due notification with a balance of $392.00. I immediately asked for a ledger showing me what these charges were for, Mrs. Hale refused to give me a copy. Before we went to court she refused to give me a copy, during court her and the lawyers refused to submit a copy and after the court process she refused to give me a copy. I was finally able to get a copy of the ledger after court through Metropolitan Housing Alliance because I had my worker Ms. Scott ask for one. After Mrs. Hale learned of this she sent them an email (that I have a copy of) telling them they gave me the ledger against her wishes. Also, she never faxed them a copy of the ledger with a $0 balance. Mrs. Hale told Ms. Scott that she told the judge she had to adjust the balance. I have a letter from Ms. Scott of Metropolitan Housing Alliance with this statement. I also have the transcript that I paid for through court that shows Mrs. Hale NEVER stated this. Coupons that are used to pay the rent, she put one in my mailbox that did not work which stopped me from being able to pay my portion of the rent. Mrs. Hale knew that she was being a bully and being malicious with these charges. |
