On 6-30-14 I, Jacob Hahn, called the Ridgewood Trails office and spoke with Connie about having possible bed bugs in my apartment. As instructed by Connie, I brought a live sample into the office to have Barry, from 1st American Pest Control, take a look. Barry told me it was a bed bug, which made me furious. I explained how I believed there was no possible way I was the source, and I informed them(Connie and Barry) I would be knocking on my neighbors door to find the source. I knocked on the neighbor's door directly beside my apartment, as well as directly below. Tim Smith, who lives directly below me in apt. 304, answered his door Tuesday, July 1 2014. When I told Tim I had bed bugs and I live above him, he replied " Me too, I've had them. I have bites all over my body." I gave Tim the phone number to the City of Madison building inspector, and told him to call right away. He never called. As instructed by Barry at 1st American, I did a prep Monday June 30 2014, which consisted of me removing all light switch covers, bagging up all clothing and bedding, and moving all furniture 2.5 ft away from walls. On Tuesday July 1, 2014 1st American dusted my apartment with 2.5 ounces of Cimexa dust for the bedbugs. On July 3 2014, I e-mailed Sue asking for some kind of rent concession. I called Connie Monday morning, July 7 2014, to report there were still live bugs in my apartment. A follow up inspection took place Tuesday July 8, 2014. Nothing was found. On July 11 2014, I went to a doctor, who confirmed I had bedbug bites. A dermatologist appointment was recommended as follow up. I have an appt to see a dermatologist on August 11, 2014. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, I received an e-mail from Sue Broihahn, stating I "misunderstood" the pest issue, saying it was "grain beetles" not bed bugs, and I owed full rent for July 2014. Friday, July 18 2014, I called and spoke with Kyle at the City Inspectors office, and scheduled an inspection for bed bugs. On Friday, July 25, 2014, a code enforcement officer from the City of Madison came to my apartment and inspected for bed bugs. One bed bug was found, and a 30 day order to correct was made. An inspection scheduled for 8-1-14. Today is Friday August 1, 2014. No bed bugs were found at inspection by 1st American. I have bed bug bites, as confirmed by city inspector, that I showed to Steven Marty, 1st American Pest Control, today. He said in order to retreat me for bed bugs, they have to find one.
