My original lease was until the 29th of July 2014, I asked the property Manager Kristin Nelson if I could get out of my lease 6 weeks early for June 17, she said not problem that she would be able to rent it and signed my early release for June 17. She has told me all along I would get my full deposit back of 250.00. One of the items of the early release states, upon termination of the tenancy, the security deposit may be applied by the landlord to the payment of any outstanding rent, I thought that meant if I did not pay my full rent until the 17th. I was never told by Kristen that I was responsible for the rent from the 18th until the new tenant signed the lease. When I turned in my keys on the 17th, I was told again by her that I would be getting my full deposit back. I cleaned the apartment for a week once it was empty. I stopped by the office on the 18th of July because it had been over 30 days and I had not heard anything about my deposit. Kristen told me she would call the corporate office on Monday and she would call me. Never heard from her Monday, I emailed her on Tuesday and she replied explaining that I left on the 17th and they rented it on the 27th, and my entire security deposit had to cover those 10 days. If i knew this back in April, I would have stayed until the end of my original lease of 29 July, I was never informed and was told I was getting the full deposit back. Again when I talked to her on the 18th she did not inform me of this.
