From the time we had moved in, the carpets were shampooed, not cleaned. 5 days later, carpets were filthy and unsanitary. We had to call the maintenance 5 times to get our central air and heating fixed during long cold winter nights under 5 degree weather. Every time the maintenance crew claimed the central air was fixed, it was untrue. 7 months into our 12 month lease, another resident that is still to be unheard of and refused to be named, claimed that we owned a cream and white pit bull canine and had the canine living at the apartment for the whole lease, which is completely and utterly false. We have never had a dog at that apartment nor any animal whatsoever. When we were advised we must pay a $300 pet deposit, we contacted the office and explained thoroughly that the claim of us owning any pet was untrue and requested documentation or evidence that we had a pet at our apartment, but the management had told us that they did not need documentation also that word of mouth was evidence enough. After this incident of us calling and reporting a that this was a false claim the management had never contacted us again about this matter, of course we assumed that the matter was resolved and we would not be forced to pay any deposit or any cleaning fees. At the time of move out inspection on 06/30/2014 they had claimed in person that everything was fine never mentioned anything about pet stains. 3 days after the move out inspection we received written notice of $200.00 extra due for fees claiming to be for having an "unauthorized pet". Keep in mind that this alleged "unauthorized pet" was reported by hearsay, and never proven. The management had claimed that they had written documentation of one of us telling the management we admitted to having a dog, which is completely untrue. We have never signed a form that claimed we had an animal nor have we ever verbally told anyone in the office we owned a pet. In this letter that we received after move-out the management had threatened to send amount due of 149.55 to collection agency and credit bureau if amount not paid within 30 days of notice. This is defamation of character to a credit bureau by hearsay without documentation nor evidence. The management has repeatedly shown utter disrespect, childish business practices, sarcasm in the event of complaint, hung up on tenants on numerous occasions, and argued with tenants when filing complaints. We simply want our deposit back of $295.00.
