The deductions listed on the End of Lease letter dated May 4, 2014 range from unreasonable to blatantly incorrect. The apartment, with few exceptions, was in good condition with reasonable wear and tear after a 3 year lease term. We have been more than accommodating and regrettably dealt with many unsanitary and unsafe conditions while living there. For example, the apartment was not cleaned or painted before we moved in. There was clothing in the dryer and trash littering the basement. when the boiler broke during a single digit spell in February, we did not have heat for 3 days (neither did the 80 plus woman living in the next unit, who later died...) and Mr. Brankner instructed us to "turn the oven on" and said that it would help warm the apartment. Snow removal was to be included in the rent, but was not taken care of all winter. Mr. Brankner attempted to enlist my husband to do this, but it was immediately apparent that this was too much work for one person to do on such short notice. Sometimes snow would sit on the sidewalks for days, since Mr. Branker lives far away, resulting in myself and numerous neighbors falling on the driveway and sidewalk. Renovations in the unit next door kept us up at night, woke us up in the morning and disturbed studies. We neglected to report or complain about all of issues out of patience and a desire to be amicable, but after receiving the End of Lease letter with ABSURD deductions, I would like to report this landlord so that other people do not fall victim to the same sort of negligence.
