COMPLAINT : Violation Of Privacy/ Disregard Of Polite Request
Fair Resolution according to renter :
  1. Written, witnessed and notarized agreement that I hereby revoke the permission of any and all Shelbyville place apartment personnel to enter my apartment unless calling me and getting both written and verbal permission from me to do so
  2. Payment equal to the amount of replacing the door locks on every door in the apartment since maintenance cannot be trusted around my belongings
  3. Criminal charges filed for tampering with my mail, which is a felony/federal offense

COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

The landlord left a note on my door yesterday indicating the 16th of January (Thursday) would be bug-spraying day for tenants, and if we had any objections to this, we should call the rental office. I did so, informing them I did not wish them to do this. I come back from a near-10 hour shift today (now Friday, the 17th of January, around 1:00am to find that mail I kept in a drawer had been sifted through and left on my counter, I could smell the odor of another body having been in my house, and my master bedroom had been looked through, and my personal computer had been accessed, a folder on the desktop visibly highlighted indicating it was opened before (I always click the desktop to make sure this doesn't happen.) Maintenance is the only other person(s) who have access to this apartment besides myself, and I specifically told them not to enter my apartment. I want to make sure this never happens again to anyone, not just myself. Imagine yourself coming home from a 10 hour shift and finding out by deduction alone that people had searched through your place...how would you react? Also, imagine the personal data they could've been privy to just by glancing at my computer. Bank account information, personal photos, family information, the list is almost endless. This is beyond reprehensible and I honestly feel violated, I trusted these people because they gave me a chance when I told them I had been homeless before finding work and getting enough money to afford living here. I don't want there to be animosity between me and my landlord but this is a clear disregard of respect for me a a person, and my belongings.
