COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter)

Unreasonable noise coming from the apartment below mine. The walls shake and the rumbling keeps me awake until 4 or 5 in the morning. They've woken up one other tenant we share walls with, as well. The handful of times this has happened, I've gone downstairs to knock on their door, but nobody answers. At first, I assumed they couldn't hear me over their explosive sound system, so I knocked repeatedly until someone answered. No one ever came to the door but the volume was reduced. Since that was all I was going to ask for, I went back upstairs. But it soon returned to an unreasonable level (louder than it had been before). I called in a noise complaint with the local authorities, but I believe the tenants are watching late night television even louder now just to spite me. They won't speak to me about my frustrations with their noise levels, and calling the authorities has only seemed to antagonize them. I just want to be able to sleep at hours such as 2am to 6am. I pay rent here too, long before they came along, and I just want to sleep before I have to get up for work in the morning. I've had too many miserable shifts at work already, and they've only been living here about a month. It's just unbearable.
