COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
I have signed lease and moved into The Jefferson apartment on 6/13/2013. Lease is attached for “Pest Control”. I have been bitten pretty bad for over a week and have found 2 bed bugs in my apartment on my living room rug – come with the apartment and on the kitchen floor on 08/04/2013. I reported to Property Manager Karen Spider on the same day to request an inspection. On 08/05/2013,she responded back with an email as attached- while I was away from my home at work, their examiner stopped by my room and said they found a few black spots on my mattress, and she suggested that unless i can find another live one to show to the examiner to confirm if it’s a bedbug or not, otherwise they would not trigger a treatment. However, I do not have a mattress, and all I have is an air mattress that I have been sleeping on, the air mattress is black color and was put into a tent I set up a night before to avoid further bites, and it is clearly that on one has touched my tent to check that mattress, I have no idea where/how the examiner found out the black spot and if the examiner was really there or not. So I immediately complained, till the next day 08/06 the inspector came “again” when I was at home, he did not "develop an integrated treatment and eradication plan" but just simply checked around my bed frame and told me that he will just let Karen know he found one so that Karen would hire them to do the treatment, but again, there was no confirmation from him to me that my area was the” infestation area". On 08/07/2013, I got notice that they will schedule treatment on 08/13/2013, but I received a letter from Karen, pointing out that their examiner found a bed bug in my “personal container”, so they charge me for the cost - $750. Firstly, the apartment was not willing to admit bedbug issue and conduct the treatment; Secondly. there was never a professional, thorough inspection conducted in my apartment, no such thing was found in my "personal container"; thirdly, they won’t conduct the treatment unless the inspector have to lie to Karen that they found bedbug in my apartment, but again, it was never said that my apartment was the infestation area. Fourthly, the bug was found from their rug and kitchen floor, they can’t just simply trick me into this “infestation area” agreement while it could from the laundry room or other area, especially the inspector that have talked to me admit that the building had pretty decent amount of bedbug issues couple months ago
