COMPLAINT DETAILS (from renter) |
Major water leaked into the apartment from the ceiling in the apartment that I rent back in August 2009. I had immediately contacted the landlord, Mr. Maynard when I arrived home that day to inform him of the issue. The leak was caused by my landlord who had been attempting to fix a pipe in the apartment above mine. Mr. Maynard replaced the drywall in August 2009, but he hasnâ??t mudded the ceiling and replace the texture â?? leaving an open piece of drywall in part of the ceiling. Electrical wires are still hanging out of the ceiling by the light fixture, too. Landlord had promised to have the ceiling mudded, textured, the walls painted, and the carpet cleaned from the leak. Heâ??s not met any of these promises.
Additional problem: Mr. Maynard left his equipment stored in my apartment for these 6-months (Aug. 2009 until Jan. 2010) including: an industrial dry vacuum, a bucket of drywall mud, paint-scraper, hammer, nails, tape measure, trash bags, and other tools. Donâ??t feel like I should have been responsible for storing these items for 6-months in the apartment that I rent. It wasnâ??t listed in any contract that Iâ??d be responsible for storing landlordâ??s tools and equipment. Think I should be refunded partial rent for 6-months for having to store these items, too.
I contacted him by phone in October 2009 asking to have ceiling fixed. I sent two letters one in November 2009 and one in December 2009 asking Mr. Maynard to have the ceiling fixed by the end of January 2010. Itâ??s been over six-months. Today is January 28, 2010 and I donâ??t believe he is going to fix the problem.
