What to do?
By Gyspy
Minnesota has received several feet of snow the last couple of weeks. The property where I rent has not done much to remove and clean up the snow. As of noon today there are 8 inches of snow going up the stairs to get to the parking lot. In the parking lot are several inches of snow that have not been removed making in almost impossible to get around. The snow banks are at least 10feet high. I am handicap and can’t shovel myself out. I have feel a few times now just trying to get to my car. What recourse do I have to be able to get out of my apartment and to my car without risking a bone breaking fall? The rental office gets no results when you call and ask when a clean up is going to be done. 2 weeks ago I was literally snowed in for 3 days. HELP!!!!

I rented form a Landlord for a year, and in that year I lost jobs due to the economy, and he was a great guy and let us live there, and I’d do some work for him. We’ve moved out for health reasons and to save some money to help pay him back. He’s threatening us and harassing us. To give him personal information, and he’s coming up with info about me and my g/f that arent true. I understand we owe him money, and have made a plan with him to pay it back, but he’s still threatening to sue us. I don’t want to go to court.

I am a renter who has lived in the same building for almost five years while living here over the years we areon our third management company the company we have now is The Sterling Group and ever since they took over we have had nothing but problems!!! since we moved in we always paid rent by walking across the street and droping our check in a office drop box but when the new company started they hired a new apartment manager he lives on site (where the drop box is) everyone started having problems the manager was saying people werent paying on time i was one of them he was lying and when i confronted him and asked him to check the security tapes because there is a camera pointing directley at the drop box he never returned my call so of course we ate it and paid over a hundred dollars in fees and the next month they gave all the apartments pre addressed envelopes and a letter saying we are now to mail our rent to indiana from connecticut so the first time we mailed our rent we recieved a letter on our door it said five day notice to pay rent or be evicted so we called the number on the letter and talked to someone from the sterling group and told them we mailed the rent to them via pre adressed envelope and were told that they would look into it a day or two later we recieved a call saying that they found our rent it was mixed up in some other papers so we were cleared that time the next couple times everything went ok then it happened again and this time they didnt find the rent so we had to cancel the check and pay again with fees then this happened again and again so in august of 2010 we bought a money order made a copy of the order and reciept and we went to the post office and they stamped postage and we made a copy of the dated envelope and sent it in the mail next thing you know august 20 2010 come home in the afternoon and theres a letter on the door five day notice to pay rent or be evicted this time i called and told the guy on the phone that we mailed everything and this time we have all the prof we can get so we sent him an email with all the copys attached he said ok im going on vacation this week but since you gave me proof everything will be fine so when i get back from vacation ill give you a call and well go from there so the next week while the manager was on vacation i get a phone call from the on site manager saying that he is starting the eviction process and i then told him what the other manager had said and he was clueless but agreed to wait untill the manager came back from vacation so on august 29 2010 i get a call from the manager that was away and he said to go where i purchased the money order and have them see if the order was cashed and if not they will issue me a refund or new money order so i went to walmart where i bought the money order and they said that i have to fill out a claim form and mail it into moneygram headquarters along with a check for fifteen dollars so we filled out the form and mailed it on september 2 2010 then i emailed the manager and told him what we had to do and explained to him that on the form it stated that this process takes anywhere from thirty to sixty five days to be processed and he said that thats ok just send him a copy of the form now on september 7 2010 i get an email from the manager saying that i have to pay rent by the tenth and to give it to the on site manager and that will be applied to august rent and that he will give us untill september 15 2010 to pay septembers rent or he will start the eviction process and that it is our responsiblity to make sure that rent gets to them by mail not theirsnow we were wondering if thats legal to make us pay rent twice even though we provided proof of paying august rent and in the past they misplaced our rent why cant we just wait for the new money order we are just so flustered what can we do this is just becoming nothing but a hassle
