what is my legal right

i have been in yhe apartment i;m in about 5 months into or lease we etarted noticing bites on the kids well come to find out we have bedbugs most the units in my building are infested with them are landlord has been aware of this problem for almost 6 to 7 months not once has he tried to fix yhe problem i have gone through four beds now a living room set (love seat and couch) got new furniture now starting to see them in gur new stuff now which ain’t even completely paid for. our land lord just shuffles the blame around from tenant to tenant everytime we yalk to our nieghbors he says this tenant brought them or this tenant brought them and he tells us it’s not his responsibilty to treat for them it’s ours please help is this true or am i just getting played by my landlord please let me know
