Unreturned security depsosit/no accounting its been 54 days

I vacated a property last March 9, had it professionally cleaned and turnover to the owner/property manager.
The 30th day after move out is April 9 but I didnt not receive or hear anything from the landlor. On April 12, I sent an email asking about the status of the deposit and my landlor asked me for my forwarding address which I provided. Pls note that I have previously provided my forwarding address before I moved out. Not receiving or hearing anything, I sent a follow up email on April 23 to which my landlord replied that he thought his wife sent the check already. April 24, I followed up again and then I start receiving copies of receipts of repairs and claiming even non normal wear and tear and that they were not yet done with the repairs (they are selling the property).
So its 54 days now, my question is since my landlor violated the 30 days state law of accounting for security deposit, can they still claim what they are claiming and what can I do to get my deposit back?

Hi Julie! DO you have pictures of the apartment before and after you moved? If you said that there were no major damages that was done to the rental unit that goes beyond normal wear and tear then your landlord cannot withhold your security deposit. You can file a complaint against your landlord if you want. You have two options in filing your complaint, you can either file it through small claims court or you can file it through the RPA.
