Possible mold infestation

I have concerns that the home that I am renting has a mold problem.  My wife and I have had increases health and alergy issues since moving into this home.  I looked under the crawl space today and the insullation is black and falling down.  What can I do to deal with these concerns…  I am not sure how to proceed with the landlord. He has been very good to deal with but this can be a big deal.  do I have the right to request an inspection to confirm that it is healthy to live here?
