Mold and ceiling leakage

By Tasha

I moved out of an apartment about 3 and a half years ago. I made a complaint to my landlord several times about my ceiling leaking and excessive mold. I used clorox to clean the mold but it continued to get worse. The leak in the kitchen started as a drip and I complained about it for two weeks nothing was done. Eventually I began to have puddles in my kitchen when it rain. Then the paint starting peeling and the mold grew rampid. I complained once again to the landlord and she sent somebody to look at it but two months went by and nothing was done. I told her that I wasn’t paying rent until it was fixed. She sent somebody to paint over the  leaking ceiling instead of getting it fixed. Im not the only tenant who had problems with mold, unfixed appliance or sinks, and leaking in va. Nobody knew what to do or who to go to. I wish I knew about you guys then. Anyway since I stated I wouldn’t pay she sent a paper stating for me to pay or get out. I opted to get out the smell of that mold was in my clothes I had to get rid of alot of belongings, and because I have episodes of bronchitis and was pregnant I had to leave. I have pictures of how the apartment looked. The apartment Gable Oaks in Rock Hill, SC check the site of complaints. You will see what Im talking about. What can I do now? Do I still have to pay them or can the debt be settled?

It’s been three and a half years. If you haven’t received anything and your records do not show any eviction, you’re good. You don’t need to pay anyone anything. But you probably want people to know about that apartment so you still have the option to file a complaint.
