is it illegal two rent a apartment with two different leases with two different amounts for the same unit.
and is it ilegal to rent a apartment with rooms outside of the apartment or can you rent a unit with rooms out side of the apartment or does the apartment have to be whole as one without the rooms out side

It sounds like you are asking if another tenant can rent a similar unit to yours and have a different rate or lease agreement? Correct? While it may seem illegal to have a neighbor living in an identical unit with different terms and conditions, its not. Landlords have the right to price rentals at whatever rate they want to. Think of it like grocery shopping. If you buy an apple for $1.00, then tomorrow your friend buys an identical apple from the same exact store for just 50 cents. Does that mean that you can go back to the store and demand a refund for the extra 50 cents you paid yesterday? NO, of course not! When you bought the apple, you agreed to pay $1.00. No matter what price drop they offer in the future, you are stuck. With rentals, its not much different. You signed a contract that you agreed upon. Then, later, you find that other tenants are being charged less or have different terms… well, you are stuck and bound to the agreement you signed regardless of the contracts or offers made to future tenants. |
