LANDORD WON’T PAY TO HAVE FIREPLACE SERVICED TO MAKE SAFE BEFORE WE USE IT!

I HAVE BEEN RENTING A PLACE FOR A YEAR AND NOW THAT IT IS COLDER WANT TO USE THE FIREPLACE.  OUR LANDLORD TOLD US THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PAY TO HAVE IT SERVICED TO MAKE SURE IT IS SAFE FOR USE! THEY SAID FOR US JUST NOT TO USE IT!! OR THEY SAID IF WE WANT TO USE IT THEN WE HAVE TO PAY THE BILL!  ISN’T IT LAW OR SOMETHING THAT THEY MAINTAIN THE FIREPLCE? I HAVE A 20 MONTH OLD CHILD IN HERE AND WANT IT SAFE!

I understand what you are feeling right now. Yes you are right. It is the landlords responsibility to keep his rental unit liveable. If your landlord refuses to do it then you have all the right to file a complaint against him.
