Landlord want to do heat treatment for bed bugs when there are no bed bugs present
By Lilah
My husband just recently had surgery and our apartment complex managment is saying that it is mandatory that the complex has this heat treatment for bed bugs. We have NO bed bugs. They are wanting us to pretty much pack up our apartment for this treatment that is unnessary and is un-preventative since there is no chemicals involved and the treatment itself is the only treatment to kill what is present. He said it’s for assest preservation… I don’t see how this is possible since bed bugs can be brought in from anywhere at anytime. We have no bed bugs now, this treatment will only cause hassle and inconvinence for a non-preventive action. This treatment will not prevent a future infestion. I don’t see how we have to consent to this treatment being done. PLEASE HELP!!!

“Asset preservation.” Lucky you to have a procative landlord. Bedbugs easily relocate apartments when only one is treated. If any apartment commected to you has bedbugs, you can get them (or may already have them). Bedbugs can go long periods unnoticed, so you may have them already and don’t know it. In the meantime, many landlords use cheap, inneffective or half hearted treatments that can spread the problem to neighbors… If you are inconvenienced by one day away from home, you cannot imagine the inconvenience (and stigma) that comes along with having bed bugs. If I had a landlord so proactive, I would never move. |
