Landlord entered home & did not leave a note…
By Laura
I was given a notice that the mangement will be conducting walk thru in every apartment with in the next week. They didnt say what day or why they need to do this..I called my apartments today to ask when they willl be conducting there walk thrus & they said they where already in my apartment but I was never left a note so my question is……When a landlord has enter an apartment while the tenant is not home do they have to leave a note saying they have been in the apartment?

You will have to check what your state laws and lease agreement say. There are some states like in CA wherein your landlord can only come into your apartment for emergencies but there must be 24-hour written notice. In your case, you were not notified so that could be a violation of your rights as a tenant. The landlord may or may not leave a notice that he went into your apartment. Sometimes, landlords would contact you directly. But if a letter to enter was sent previously, a note is no longer necessary as you know exactly what date and time the landlord went in. I would suggest that you file a complaint against your landlord if you find that he has violated your tenant rights. |
