keeping deposit for damages

By Lora

I have a former tenant in FL who left the house with damages exceeding the deposit. I sent certified mail list the damages with pictures and my intenet to keep the deposit. I did not make any repairs on the house but I sold it "as is". Since the house has sold can I still legally keep the deposit?

As far as i know, if a landlord instead made up some fake damages to keep the deposit that would make it illegal. Unethical it may seem that you did that but if those damages are legit then your good.
