I hate my new apartment. What do I do?

By Karen in Chitown

I just moved into a new apartment a week ago and I hate it. I rented with expectations of an apartment that was equal to the rather high rent I am paying and am sorely disapointed. There are a number of issues, almost too long to put in writing. I am not a whiner, I have been renting for years and know the obstacles — but this is beyond bad.  What are the best steps to address the issues in a way that provide me with protection and recourse? Can I get out of this lease?

Talk to your landlord about it. It’s best as well to let your landlord know about these issues so it can be fixed. Another option you can do is to file a complaint. RPA can help you out that just click the File a Complaint link.
