Filing a complaint against my apartment complex, or what to do?
By Chris H
Hello all
My apartment complex claims they offer free Wi-Fi (on their website and brochures). For the past 5 months there has been no Wi-Fi, and the manager has told myself and one other person (I overheard) that they have the equipment on the way and once it gets here they will install it. This has honestly been going on for 5 months now.
As I understand this is not a health issue or anything like that, but I am just tired of the lies, deceit, etc. For this time period I have had to use my phone for tethering and it honestly costs me a fortune, I have almost doubled my bill each month, also can’t ever upload images or any large files to a few blogs just because I can’t afford what it would cost for the extra data.
It does affect my life in the way that I am trying to get an income starting from online work, I do not want/nor have the money to go out and purchase a router and sign a contract with a cable provider if it is going to come back on, so I am just frustrated that I feel there is something else going on and they are just beating around the bush (so to speak). It also bothers me that they still are claiming free wireless internet!
I am just looking to find any way I can do something that will get them to take care of this issue?
Thank you very much for taking the time to review this.

I totally understand how you feel, personally I use the internet a lot I basically can’t live without it and it’s just not right to advertise free Wi-Fi if they really don’t have it. I think that filing a law suit just for a Wi-Fi connection is definitely too extreme but integrity wise I think you should file a complaint instead. Their advertisement is definitely misleading attracting tenants to their so called free Wi-Fi service just to find out later on that there isn’t any that’s just wrong. |

Hello Jane thank you for the response! I totally agree and do not want to file a law suit, however at the front desk they say there is no way to file a complaint and that I would have to speak with the manager who is still as of yesterday saying he is not sure what’s going on and that he has been on the property company about taking care of this issue but they are giving him the run around, so I was wondering if you may know where I go to file a complaint with maybe a housing commission or something similar, I’m in California! |
