FALSELY ACCUSED BY TENANT BEING EVICTED

By Sarah

WHERE I AM LIVING A TENANT ABOVE ME IS AN OLDER COUPLE AND I AM BEING ACCUSED OF HAVING AN UNAUTHORIZED DOG IN MY HOME. I HAVE MY OWN DOG THAT I PAY RENT ON. MY SON COMES BY ONCE IN A WHILE AND HE BRING IS TO PLAY WITH MY DOG. I GOT NOTICE OF THAT AND STOPPED MY SON FROM BRINGING THE DOG ANYMORE. IN FACT THEY MOVED AWAY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. I GOT A NOTICE TODAY STATING THAT I DID NOT ABIDE BY THE LEASE AND DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE SO I HAVE 14 DAYS TO LEAVE THE PREMISES. IT IS UNTRUE. WHEN I WAS WARNED THE FIRST TIME I TOOK CARE OF THE SITUATION AND ALSO IT STATED THAT I WAS SPOTTED WITH THE DOG ON THE PREMISES AT A CERTAIN TIME AND DATE BUT THAT IS UNTRUE SINCE I WAS AT WORK AND MY YOUNGER SON WAS AT SCHOOL. I KNOW IT IS COMING FROM A TENANT IN THE BUILDING BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT DOES NOT WORK AND WAS THE CAUSE OF THE OTHER INCIDENT. MY HUSBAND AND MY SON ARE BLACK AND I THINK HE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THAT BECAUSE ALL THE OTHER TENANTS LET THEIR DOGS RUN THE STAIRWELLS AND GO OUT WITHOUT LEASES BUT HE SAYS NOTHING ABOUT THEM SINCE THEY ARE WHITE. I AM GOING TO SPEAK WITH THE LANDLORD TOMORROW SINCE THEY WERE CLOSED WHEN I GOT HOME AND GOT THE NOTICE BUT IN THE LETTER IT SAYS THAT IT CANNOT BE IRRVOCABLE OR INCURABLE. SINCE WHEN CAN A APT COMPLEX TAKE THE WORD OF A TENANT AND EVICT SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY SAID SO? SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THAT. I MIND MY OWN BUSINESS AND I DONT BOTHER ANYONE BUT IT SEEMS THAT IF ANYTHING COMES UP THE FINGER IS GETTING POINTED TO ME. WHAT CAN I DO?
