Case not Resolved

By anonymous

I filed a complaint (#20-1354) and initially there was some activity from the landlord, however, the problem was not ultimately resolved.  Eventually the RPA closed the case after there was no response from the Landlord.  Is it true that if a landlord completely ignores the RPA, there’s nothing they can do about it?  If so, what’s the point of the RPA in the first place?

Its no different than if you had taken your landlord to court and and they failed to respond. You may have a judgement in your favor, but the courts can’t actually get you your money. I think the RPA uses mediation?? So, if the landlord didn’t resolve the complaint there is nothing more that can be done other than a negative record that is visible to everyone.

The RPA isn’t a miracle solution. They obviously have their limits as to how much time they can spend on each case. It sounds like your landlord wouldn’t respond to anyone no matter what they did. If a landlord fails to respond to the RPA, then who would they respond to?

Its sucks you’re stuck with such a bad landlord.
