It is easier to have a legal reason to terminate your lease, than to “break” it. It’s best to talk to your landlord about that to make some arrangements. Settle your bills if you still have payments to paid. Make sure that you won’t have grudges when leaving.

You have to check your lease first if there are any fees associated with early lease termination. Also you will need to make sure that your reason for breaking your lease is valid. The best thing you can do right now is to file a complaint against your landlord for all your concerns. You can also call your local HUD and file a complaint with them. Good luck!

I tried to file a complaint with HUD but they only will assist section 8 and public assistance recipients. I am totally appalled by this!! How is it that we are not treated equal? Is it a crime to be a working class American? We don’t deserve help? Yet our tax dollars are paying HUDs salary?? This has me upset because our landlord refuses to empty our septic tank and we’ve only been living here for a month! Our lease says we are only responsible to empty tank once a year! Also we have raw sewage in ou yard now! I cn give my children baths let alone my husband or myself!! What should I do??
