bedbugs..not disclosed!!

By tamera

We just signed a lease July 17th. We moved in July 18th. The previous tenants ,moved out July 17th and the carpets were never cleaned in between. After we moved in the landord told of us a hosue she managed with a terrible bed bug infestation. She said the owner of the home (she’s property manager) refused to replace the carpets or deal with it. I was grossed out and felt bad for the people who were renting from them.  I recently just found out by accident through the previous property manager there were bed bugs in the house Im renting. It was a little over a year ago. The carpet was replaced in 1 bedroom. 1 mattress was thrown out. This is a huge 4000 finished sq feet with 6 bedrooms. And it was the same tenants who moved out the day before we moved in!

I immediately sent a message to our property manager who replied there were no bedbugs. I replied I knew for a fact the last tenants had  them. She then wrote back that the last 2 tenanst had bed bugs in this house! She said they put in new carpet . I asked for reciepts from exterminators and for the carpet. she refuses to supply them to me. I have kids and I NEVER would have moved in this house. Its $2,000 a month in an exclusive high rent area.  I am horrified that there were apx 2 rooms of old carpet in the garage left by last tenants. we picked it up and moved into storage room.

a couple of my kids and husband have had red bites on them. I am terrified we have bed bugs. We just sold our house and moved directly here. We have never had bed bugs in our lives! I am calling an exterminator for an inspection. We want out of our lease and want our deposit back and money for new  mattresses if there are still bed bugs present. How could they not disclose there were 2 cases of bed bugs in this house? Do I have grounds for a law suit if she refuses to help us with this matter..shes refusing to do anything
