Apartment manager doing nothing
By Melissa
My family moved into these apartments in April. The people under us have 4 kids. We have 3, a 10 year old, 3 year old, and 19 months. I am a stay at home mother. They don’t work. They are at home all day. Have been in these apartment for more than 10 years. Us about 6months. Well, as everyone knows you cant keep kids from playing around. So everytime they play run so forth, and you all know you cant tell an 19 month old he cant run. Thats all they do. Well they play their music every day at nap and their kids are at school so you know its them. Making my walls and floor move. They have told the office about my kids running around and needless to say we have got many letters, but yet i call about their music and the smell of drugs and nothing happens.. Why is it ??? What shouls we do?

When it comes to apartment noise problems, it can get weird. The bigger problem is that now you have another tenant that is claiming you are the noisy one AND since they were the first to complain, anything you do will look like a fake complaint. If you complain management will just think that you are lashing out due to their complaint against you. Not to downplay but kids can be worse than loud music. I have kids and they can’t be extremely loud. To me it sounds like you need to figure out a way to work out something with your neighbors. Try to be reasonable. I’m not sure what you really want the apartment manager to do about your noise complaint. When it comes down to it, it really is up to you and your neighbor to be respectful of each other. |

Yep apartment noise problems suck!! Brian might be right… the landlord probably just thinks you are making a complaint just becuz someone did it to you. I guess I could see how they might not take your complaint as seriously. You could always record the sound or invite the manager to come over when they are playing their music loudly. just an idea. |

You’re going to have to be proactive about this. Apartment noise problems are as common as any problem plaguing apartment dwellers. You might be surprised to find out that your property manager may have their hands tied when it comes to noise complaints. If the noise is between 6am to 10:30pm, there is probably no legal course of action that can be taken other than giving them a warning or letter of sorts. Reach out to your neighbor. Bake some cookies and stop by to introduce yourself. You might be surprised at how much better things get when you take the responsibility and apologize first. The idea is to create a mutual respect for each other. Don’t rely on your property manager to resolve the noise problem. You will need to take control of the situation. You’ll get a lot further with cookies than you will with daggers. |

We have tried just about everything with them. All this didnt start until we told them we couldnt help them out any more. They were borrowing money all the time and we were taking them places because they dont have a car and they are going threw a hard time right now. We have told them if they have something to say about the noise please come talk to us and well, they dont.. |
