Apartment lease problem

By Mekeel Miller

I renewed my lease in January of  this year (Second Renewal), per the Jennifer (finance coordianator of the office) ” the rent is not going up due to lack of notification and lack of income(tenants moving out without notice). My remained the same $640.00. Jennifer advised I may pick -up a copy of the apartment  lease the following Monday. Upon arrival to the office that Monday as instructed the lease was not ready. I didn’t worry about it (big mistake). Now, four months later, I received a notice indicating i’m in breech of contract. The notification then goes on to say my rent was short $8.05. After calling,Jennifer indicates my rent is $650.00 (not including water). I proceed to explain that when we met back in January it was conveyed as well as on my lease rent would not go up. Jennifer then states some will contact me. I requested a copy of the lease, I went to the office the next day to pick up the lease and again it was not ready. No one contacted me, it has now been three weeks and another notice arrived yesterday 05/23/2012 indicating $8.05 was shorted on the rent. Jennifer now states ” the rent did go up to $650.00 and the lease is ready for pick-up anytime”  I questioned who signed it the 650.00 lease, because what I signed stated 640.00 and my money orders prove that fact. I asked her ,if i’m in breech of contract, wouldn’t if be from Feb-May and not just 8.05 for May??? Jennifer stated “Pam (Office Manager will contact me) this was 4 hours ago. Being that I do not have a lease, what can I do?
