Additional Pet Deposits

By Freddie

We are 5 months in to our lease and we have a had a pretty good relationship with the owners of our home but we also have to deal with a real estate company that manages the property. We pay our rent on time and the owners replaced our carpet after we moved in…because it was super disgusting. We paid $250 for a non refundable pet deposit for our small dog. When we moved 750 miles from everything we knew, we weren’t able to locate our cat so he missed the train. We intended on bringing him later and were able to 2 months in. The owners came by a few times unannounced and saw the cat but didnt say anything about it until 2 weeks after their last visit. The property manager contacted me and told me i had to either pay an additional $250 for a non refundable pet deposits or get rid of my 2 year olf cat, whom we all love dearly. The house we rent is barely worth what we pay for it and we did an enormous amount of improvements to the property such as intense yard cleanup, intense deep cleaning of the appliances in the kitchen, and not to mention we bought all of the trash bags to clean up the yard and all of the chemicals to clean up the place when we got here. I just feel like we have been very considerate and cooperative and now all of a sudden they need another $250??
