Horrible Landlord, Leaky Roof That Damaged My Property
By Needing Help Now
I lived on the top floor of my building. 3 months after I moved in, the ceiling under the roof began to leak in my apartment, damaging many of my items. The landlord had the issue repaired, however told me that he is not responsible for my items getting damaged. After the first time, I had 4+ events of water leaking from the roof into my apartment. On top of that, the leaky roof caused mold to be in my unit The landlord still refuses to pay for my damaged items and my rental insurance company said they cannot cover the damages because the leaky roof situation happened more than once. Do I have any options in recovering the damages made to my property from the landlord?

You can file a complaint against your landlord and request that he pay for the damages to your personal property. Most insurance companies will not cover repeat claims for the same issue so your only option is to force your landlord to be responsible for the damages caused to your personal property. You can also inform your local housing department about it. There could be some problems with the building structure since it is constantly exposed to water. |
