Apartment Electrical problems
By Veronica
The power supply on 2 of my TV’s have been blown out do to poor electrical maintainace in my duplex. Is the owner liable for repair costs to fix my TV’s? Isn’t the apartment electrical problems something the landlord should be responsible to maintain. Can I get my landlord to pay for damages to my ty’s due to poor apartment electrical supply?
I’d love to hear what you all think. Thanks!

Nope, sorry. All personal belongings are the responsibility of the renter, regardless of fault. This is something your renter’s insurance will cover. If you don’t have renter’s insurance, I suggest you get it! Renter’s insurance only costs between $15 to $25 per month. |

Have you thought about plugging your TV’s into a surge protector? That should prevent your TV’s from getting damaged. Landlord’s are never responsible for renter’s personal belongings. |

Hi Veronica, Randy is correct, your personal insurance should cover this, as this are your belongings, and make sure that you had plugged the power cord correctly or if the electrical maintenance problem was there, could have been shown problem at first day of rent only. and remember as you are saying the power supply for TV not the whole house main power board. |
