slum lord needs to be stopped
By apt 8
I live in these horrible apartments called the Starlight Park Apartments on 347 Ware Blvd. The complex is infested with rats and roaches, mold, they’re falling apart, there are prostitutes working here who’s "CUSTOMERS" are forever speeding in and out all high on who knows what, the drug dealers come for the prostitutes, and THE OWNER KNOWS ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! We have complained numerous times and she has yet to do anything about it. The cops are always here, you can hear yelling and arguing just about every day, and her response is, I don’t care what you do in your apartment just pay the rent. Nevermind that the prostitutes drug dealer pulled a gun on someone in front of his kid, she paid her rent. What can I do to get out of here without jacking up my rental history with a broken lease or eviction?

Your landlord is responsible for making sure that his rental unit is in a safe and healthy environment. It is also her responsibility to make sure that the apartment is in a good living condition. Since your landlord was not able to give it to you then you have all the right to break your lease. All you need to do is to inform your landlord by giving a 30-days notice to vacate the unit sent via certified mail. If your landlord refuses to take you off your lease early then you can file a complaint against her.
