bed bugs! :O
By minnie
I just recently moved into my apartment about 3 months now…. I have been feeling little bits but I thought they were from being outside. I found out that I had bed bugs. First off I’m a very clean person! I don’t let anybody come into my apartment. I told my landlord and they had some skechey pest control people come look at the situation… First off they couldn’t tell me how old the bugs were, how big there nest was or anything… They didn’t give me any documentation when they came to my apartment… Just word of mouth… My landlord is now saying that I have to pay for the bed bugs in my apartment and all of the units surrounding me. They are saying I have to pay 600 dollars for the whole thing. I don’t feel that is fair!!!! The babies are full grown bed bugs! I have never had bed bugs…. I’m a young college student and I feel that they are trying to take advantage of me. I signed an addendum that says that it’s the landlords obligation to MAINTAIN the multi-dwelling free of an infestation of bed bugs… If this nest is huge and it has full grown bed bugs then that means it was not maintained infestation free… The pest people did a treatment in june…. and they said the apartment only does it for spiders and roaches which I still continue to see in my apartment… How can you MAINTAIN a infestation free dwelling if your not treating for it? Should I file a complaint? Im so frustrated it is making me physically sick!!!!

You are not responsible for the treatment. Treatments need to take place in every apartment, every 2 weeks until there are NO bedbugs. Treatments need to be by professionals who are educated in this particular bug. They lay eggs any and everywhere so there is no nests of them, more like little colonies where they hang out after they feed on blood, usually within 3 feet of your bed. They are attracted by Co2, so if you’re breathing, they will come. No discrimination and they travel through the walls, electrical sockets, and whatever crack will lead them to a host. If the landlord doesn’t take care of it, the more they breed and feed, the worse it’s going to get. |
