Who pays?
By Tracey
We moved into a rental house and Jan and for 5 months my kids and myself have been getting bite by something. It started my 1st week there we started getting bites. I called the landlord and he sent someone out to spray and they found nothing, however, we continued getting the bites. I fumigated the house, bought insect repellor lights..nothing worked.
Five months later I saw black dots on the wall and removed a picture above my daughters bed and oh my gosh bed bugs and eggs all over it. I then looked around they were coming out of the baseboards on the ceiling, on the curtians…awful.
My fiance called the landlord told him and he replied I found a waterbug this morningI’ve done my part. My fiance said we are not talking about waterbugs were talking about bed bugs biting my family. He finally agreed to pay half. I dont feel that is acceptable. I have 38 bags of laundry to dry I had to burn 2 of my kids dressers and 2 box springs needless to say other items we had to throw out because of eggs.
So my question is who is responsible to pay this? Should the l;andlord be responsiblesince this was something we moved into?
Thanks,
Tracey

The landlord is responsible to pay for the extermination plus damages done your furnitures, etc. You can file a bad report here in RPA if you are not satisfied with his proposal. |

Bedbugs are a huge problem for any tenant, here i can say your owner called up exterminators and they tried with the solution, however you noticed and found them later. You can file a complaint.. make sure that its not caused by you. You need to keep the beds and in around places of room clean. Even your landlord can question you why the parts above daughters photos were not cleaned usually when you clean your home. This isn’t any legal help i am saying.. but in my opinion you can lodge a case with RPA.. if your owner is not listening to you or harassing. |
