WHICH WAY AND/OR WHAT SHOULD I DO???

I LIVED IN AN APARTMENT (173 BAKER ROAD APT B-1; HUNTSVILLE, AL.) FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS, IN THE COURSE OF THOSE YEARS, THERE’S BEEN SEVERAL PROBLEMS….ONE, MAINLY SPEAKING OF WATER DAMAGE AND MOLDING……THE OTHER, A CONSISTANT MANAGER, COMING TO PICK UP RENT AND TURNING IT IN ON TIME; CAUSING MY RENT TO SHOW NOT BEING PAID ON TIME……..THE LANDLORD FINALLY OPTED TO GETTING AN ACTUAL REALATOR TO HANDLE HIS PROPERTY…..IN THE MEANTIME, THE EXISTING MANAGER HAD NOT PICKED UP RENT FOR TWO MONTHS, I HAD BEEN DEALING WITH UNREPAIRED MOLD/BLACK MOLD, NO HOT WATER, AND THE NEW REALATOR WAS CHANGING/RENEWING OUR LEASE…..

BECAUSE OF ALL THE MESS AND UNSAFE/UNLIVABLE DAMAGE TO THE APT., I ASKED TO EITHER MOVE OUT AND/OR BE RELOCATED……THE LANDLORD HIMSELF DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER AVAILABLE PLACES……HE RELUCTANTLY ALLOWED ME OUT THE LEASE, BUT KEPT MY DEPOSIT……..I WAS ASKED HOW LONG WOULD IT BE BEFORE I’M OUT OF THE APT. I INITIALLY SAID AT THE END OF THE MONTH, TO GIVE ME TIME TO PACK, LOOK FOR A PLACE, AND MOVE OUT; BUT I FELT LIKE I WAS PRESSURED TO SAY A LOT SOONER THAN WHAT I INITIALLY NEEDED TO MOVE, ESPECIALLY BEING THAT I AND MY FAMILY’S HEALTH HAD BEEN JEPARDIZED AND WAS INCONVIENCED.

SO, NOW, THEIR HOLDING ME TO THE DATE THAT I FELT LIKE I WAS PRESSURED INTO TELLING THEM, ASKING FOR THE KEYS, AND THREATING TO SERVE ME WITH AN EVICTION NOTICE AND STILL HAVE NO PLACE TO GO AS YET………

WHAT SHOULD I DO, CALL BETTER BUSINESS BEARU, GO TO THE HEALTH DEPT., AND/OR GO TO SMALL CLAIMS???

You can actually withhold payment if repairs that should be done by the landlord was not made, so he actually owes you. But seek legal advice, you are actually a victim in this situation. Haven’t they heard of Housing and State Sanitary Code? If you want to take it further, there’s a “file a complaint” tab.
