Bedbugs
By anonymous
A family member of mine identified bedbugs in her apartments. She called me freaking out right after she contact her building manager for which they said they would send someone down to inspect the problem to see if it was indeed bedbugs. I went over with my all natural sprays and we went on spraying everything. When we were pretty much done, the inspectors finally showed up and said that wouldn’t work if it was bedbugs. The inspector checked everything out and said he saw no live activity; that they were all dead and said that he would let the property manager know and send pest control out as soon as possible. I left her my stuff and they ended up coming the following morning. They said the same thing the inspector said, that even though he sees no live activity, that he when he sprays that they will all come out. Well, nothing came out (he was suprised) and said to just keep doing whatever she was doing as well as to vacuum everything every day and throw away the bags immediately to avoid infestation.
The building manager blamed her and said she must have brought them in and that there has never been an infestation in their complex. The pest control gentleman said that the infestation was only about 1 month to 1 1/2 months at most. He also mentioned that someone had passed away on the 1st floor about 8 months ago and the apartment was loaded with bedbugs. When he saw my family members face, he quickly said it may have been in the next building but he wasn’t sure. The building manager is demanding that she pay for it. My family member won’t even go to the movie theater for fear of catching bedbugs due to watching the news regarding purchasing used furniture, hotels, and other ways to easily catch them.
It has been a week since the pest control gentleman has sprayed her apartment and she has been doing everything and more to be sure that there are no new outbreaks. On Wednesday, the day before yesterday, she was spraying around with the stuff I left her, and while she was spraying her intercom and outlet behind her couch, a bunch of them started crawling out and dying. This is a whole building infestation! She tried contacting the building manager for which she had to leave a message and has been being ignored. The whole apartment complex needs to be done, not just her apartment. Most individuals are not as clean as my family member and probably do not realize they even have them.
Something has to be done. The building needs to be vacated and all tenants need to have other accomodations until the infestation is under control. There is NO excuse for this. I need to know exactly whom to call, what to do, and what my family members options are. No one should have to live like that and especially since it was the apartment complexes negligence in creating such an infestation. My family member can even sleep!
Any help and advice please?
The only thing I know to have her do is to file a complaint with the RPA here.
Thanks in advance!

I am sure I have bed bugs. My son and I live in an apartment. He always has his little friend staying overnight. Recently the friend told us his house had bed bugs. Then a month later we noticed a few in my kid’s bed. I am so stressed and disturbed. I have called in someone to treat my apartment and notified the landlord. Can i be held financially responsible if bed bugs spread to other apartments? SOMEONE ANYONE. Please give me advice. |

Yes Jimmy, they will hold you reponsible even if you aren’t. You will have to come up with entire costs and if it has spread, they will try and charge you with that too. I know a way to get rid of them and keep them at bay between fumigations. Send me an email with your contact info or send me a personal email, and I will send you my contact info. The pest control gentleman says that nothing works even the stuff that says it does. However, even upon the 2nd fumigation visit at my family members house, he says that there is still NO LIVE activity! Best Wishes, |

Hey V, I have read of people in similiar circumstance as your family member getting immediate results after filing an RHA complaint against the landlord. They all have said that made the landlord much nicer and much more accomadating. I don’t know much about it personally but I think it may be worth looking into. I hope it helps. I appreciate your advice on my problem. Its a tough thing to deal with. I would love to get more detail on your treatment. My email address is ChargerFan1966@yahoo.com. Looking forward to hearing from you, |

Is it a breach of contract to move out due to bedbug intfestation? I informed my landlord over 2 months ago and he still has done nothing…I just informed him that I was going to move and he refuses to give me my security deposit claiming breach of contract.
