landlord changing lease
By about to lose it
Hello,
I am really about to lose it. I got to much going on to worry about what my landlord is trying to do. I will try to make it as brief as possible. My landlord emails us 10 days prior to our lease expiring that he is going to put the house on the market and we can renew but in the new lease if the house sold, we would have 45 days to get out. I have kids and can not live like that so we decided to be proactive and find something. Which were we live is extremely difficult, there just is not a lot of rental properties here. Anyway, we found something Friday night and notified our landlord today (wanted to be sure everything was okay) that we would be moving out on Saturday. We did not sign the new lease. He comes back stating according to our lease we should have given him 30 days notice and we are to pay August rent. Really!?!? I know under normal circumstances, 30 days notice are required, but what did he expect us to do. Just sign a new lease and live wondering if the house would sell. My thought is since he did not give us 60 days notice of the change in the new lease, then the lease is null and void. What’s yalls thoughts? thanks so much.
