Flooded Apartment

By

I live in a small one bedroom apartment. Last month I noticed a wet spot on the floor of my apartment. I called and left several messages for maintance that evening and the following day.  I came home next  afternoon to see that no one had been to my home yet. I went to the office and told them someone needed to go there immediately. Three hours later, they finally came and looked at my apartment. The water heater had blown. They made a complete mess of my apartment, throwing things all over the place and getting dirty water on my stuff. I ghad a vase that got broken and all kinds of things thrown everywhere. I could not stay at my apartment because the floors were completely soaked. The bedroom, family room, dining room and hallway were wet. They camre two days later to take out the padding the put this industral fan in my apartment to dry the floors. A week later they finally started putting the padding in the apartment. It took two and a half weeks for them to fix everythoing. I could not stay there after they were done because the smell of the wet carpet became very musky. It continue to smells like mold and I now have several spots in my apartment that are forming basketball sizes of black mold. I have told the office several times but they are slow to respond. I do not beleive that I should have to pay a full amount of rent because it is still moldy. Does any one have any suggestions on how to get them to fix these problems?

I think it’s just fair that they should compensate you for that inconvenience. I would feel the same way you did. 2 things I can probably suggest. 1 is to talk straight up to the landlord/owner. 2nd would be filing a complaint. I found out that RPA can help you best with this. Reporting that apartment owner/landlord or really filing a complaint.
