Breach of Contract by Landlord

By Valorie

I have a 1 year lease that does not end until January.  Two days ago my landlord came to my home and gave me a 45 day eviction notice.  He stated that he lost his job in Salt Lake City and now wants to move back into the home he leased to me.  This leaves me with no place to go and I have small children.  Not having known this until now I had not saved for a deposit on a new place.  We had planned on renewing the year contract when it came due what rights do I have and what type of damages can I sue for if I decide to take this to court.

I suspect by now the situation has been resolved. if you are still considering filing a lawsuit, remember that there are strict timeframes that limit the amount of time you have to act.
