Wrongful Eviction reflecting on credit report

By Holly

I have always paid my rent on time in an apartment complex and came home to find an eviction notice on the door.  I received no prior notification and when I went to the management office they said they had served the eviction to the wrong apartment and that they made the mistake after I showed them the previous months of where I paid my rent on time.  The management company said they would fix the mistake and then a few months later a new management company took over.  This was all about 2-3 months ago.  I recently applied to get another apartment after my lease is up and the eviction showed up on my credit so I was denied.  I would like to get out of my lease two months early because of this issue, along with several other issues such as noisy neighbors and possible mold growing in a closet but I am unsure of my rights.  ANy insight is appreciated.
