Two broken fridges and spoiled food, Any compensation?

I am wondering if anyone has dealt with a smilar issue. Our refrdige broke down almost 3 weeks ago. The fridge was replaced within 3 days after breaking down but that same night the 2nd one broke and spoiled all of our food. We have had to wait almost 3 weeks for a working fridge. The landlord has not provided us with coolers or ice and leaving food outside is not an option. ( rodent problems) Are they repsponsible for any compensation for our loss of food and the need to purchase ice and coolers?
