Smoking
By Bryn
BrynWe rent a home in Richmond, VA. Recently new renters have moved into the basement, heavy smoking couple. The smoke comes into our home. Our landlord is not sympathetic, says that it is against the law to ask the tenant to change smoking habits, and told us to figure it out on our own. We will try to weather-strip the doors but feel that second-hand smoke in our home is unacceptable. What are our rights, here? May we move with 5 months on our lease, ask that our landlord be active in the prevention of secon-hand smoke?
