smelly carpet

I just moved into a rental house. During my initial walk through I didn’t notice any odd smells but on the day we moved in the house smelled really bad. The carpets where still damp so we ran fans and dried them out but the basement carpet still smells really bad. The property management company came out and basically said they didn’t smell anything and weren’t going to do anything about it. Is there anything I can do?
