Loud Saxophone Player Driving me BONKERS!!!!
By Elle
I live in a small 2-story apartment building that I really like. I live on the first floor and have never really had any noise complaints or any problems with neighbors. Starting July however a man moved into the apartment directly above me and I learned that he was a saxophone player. The walls are thin and he plays for hours on end and I cannot take it anymore!! Not to mention you can hear the saxophone playing throughout the entire building, not just through the ceiling into my apartment. In addition he has blasted jazz music for hours on end and it sounds like he is tapping and banging on metal. If he isn’t playing any music I still constantly hear him moving furniture around, stomping heavily and dropping heaving objects on the floor – basically sounds as if someone is dropping a bowling ball on a hardwood floor! This disturbing noise has continued till 11 pm or even midnight most nights which I find unacceptable. I left him a note on his door a few days explaining that I was becoming frustrated with all the music/noise and that I would not hesistate to file a noise complaint with our landlord if he does not quiet down and have more consideration for the rest of the building. Nothing has really changed after that letter however, so I left a message for my landlord yesterday. I have not heard back from my landlord yet so I don’t know what is going to happen. I am really frustrated and I am having terrible anxiety every day not knowing if I can relax at home and get sleep or be constantly disturbed. I don’t think that in such a small building people should be allowed to play musical instruments as loud as they can for hours on end. Any more advice on what I should do????
