Problems with apartment

I have been having a problem with the apartment that I am living in. The first issue is little tiny ants that have taken over my kitchen and other areas of the apartment. They are everywhere, they get into food that isn’t open or have been opened one time and this is very frustrating. The landlord has not done anything about it yet. I have been withholding rent because of this problem, I have had to throw away plenty of food because ants have gotten into my food. Such as, cooking oil, peanut butter, salt, and even my newborn’s formula. Our money has been going to replacing food and so we have not given the landlord the rent for September. The second problem is mushrooms growing in my 4 year old’s bedroom. She hasn’t spilled anything for it to be molding to form mushrooms and this is disgusting. Her carpet is literally spoiling and I don’t want my daughter to get sick and I also have a newborn living in the house and I want my deposit back. The landlord doesn’t want to give it to me because I didn’t pay the rent for September, but I think I deserve my deposit back so I can move out immediately. Someone please help me, what can I do to get my deposit back???
