Problem with landlord repair. Unsafe?

By Anonymous1

We have an enclosed porch at the back of our home.  In December I reported to my landlord that it was sinking.  He came and looked at it and told me that he would fix it soon.    I had told him that it had sunk so much, that the door to the outside would not open all the way because the steps were now higher than the porch and the door got stuck on the porch.  The structure is shaky.  I do not like myself or my children to walk back there.  In February I had gone out to start my car and went out the front door-our front steps are tiled.  In our lease it states we are not allowed to use salt or ice melter.  It had snowed the night before and I slipped and fell and fractured my tail bone.  Finally in May- instead of fixing the sinking porch, he just raised the door hinges.  The porch is still sinking.  It does not feel stable and I do not want my children anywhere near it because I am concerned it will collapse.  He is refusing to fix it. Is he allowed to leave us with only one safe door to exit out of?
