Noisy pipes not disclosed upon signing lease

By Lyndsay jameson

I signed a lease 24 hours ago and started moving in yesterday. i had previously viewed the apartment and found it to be cute and quiet and started moving in later that afternoon. As i began unloading my boxes I heard a sudden ticking noise above me in the ceiling. I listen for about a minute before it stopped. I hadnt heard this noise before when I previewed the apartment and not a word was mentioned in the contract I signed earlier that day. I waited to see when it would make the noise again and sure enough ten minutes later the ticking began again. It was loud enough that you could hear it from my car outside the front door.  I called the realtor and asked why the noise was happening and from what, he stated it was the air in the pipes that creeked when the hot water was turned on in any apartment in the building. He told me that I would get use to the noise, however I was not made aware of this early on, and feel it would have been a deal breaker for getting the apartment. I wouldnt have signed the lease if I knew and I find it very frustrating that I was not told before hand about the noises. I find it unexceptible to have to live in an apartment like that and I asked to be moved into a different unit. I can Not stand the noise and I dont not want to have to "get use to it" however they said I have no options and have to stay!! What can I do please help I will take them to small claims if needed.  Thank you thank you
