Deposit
By Angie
My former landlord/Boss is giving me a hard time in refunding my deposit. He will not answer my phone calls or emails. He called me one day after I left the apartment and told me he would be sending my deposit out in a few days. He never did obviously and I don’t know what to do. It has been about 23 days now and I think he only has 3o in the state of Michigan. I cleaned the apartment from top to bottom and the apartment was in bad shape when I rented it. I left it cleaner than what I recieved it. The problem I’m having is that I never took pictures when I moved in or moved out. I asked him several times for a copy of my lease and he said he would get it to me and never did. I have nothing even showing I was there. What should I do about this. He was my boss also, but he gave me free rent only so I have nothing there either. HELP?! I deserve my deposit back and I don’t know how to go about it. Landlords shouldn’t be able to do this to tenants. They get away with too much. I do have my grandparents that witnessed the apartment before and my boyfriend was there after I cleaned it and so was a few of the other tenants. Do you think this will do? Thanks for your help.
